Barb Hallberg creates art through a series of wheel thrown raku, horsehair and smoke fired pottery out of her home studio in the Black Hills.
Each pot is hand thrown and fired to 1300 degrees. The pot is removed and as the temperature comes down, there is a perfect temperature that Barb can place pieces of horsehair on the pot and the hair
burns into the surface. The designs are inspired by indigenous cave paintings and petroglyphs from the Great Plains.
In addition to her artistic pottery, Barb also creates functional pieces such as mugs, bowls and plates.
