Rancher competition offers big bucks at the Black Hills Stock Show
Rapid City, SD—The Black Hills Stock Show Ranch Rodeo will
gather top ranchers from 13 states for a one day competition on Tuesday, February
4, 2014.
Teams comprised of four ranch-hands will compete for a
chance to win over $30,000 in cash and prizes by competing in ranch driven
events such as ranch bronc riding, roping and cattle wrangling. The prizes
earned at the Black Hills Stock Show make it one of the most prestigious Ranch
Rodeos in the nation.
Last year’s event was the largest in the history of the
stock show with 70 teams competing in the preliminary round for the chance to
make it back to the finals held on Tuesday night. This event has become one of
the most popular events and the move of the Ranch Rodeo to the Central States
Fairgrounds, James Kjerstad Event Center, proved to be beneficial to both competitors
and spectators.
“With more money up for grabs, we are estimating this to be
the biggest Ranch Rodeo we have ever produced,” said Ron Jeffries, Black Hills
Stock Show General Manager.
A new format to determine final qualifiers will be
implemented this year. Preliminary rounds will require teams to complete in
three events within a five minute time period. The top 12 teams who complete
the tasks in the least amount of time will advance into the evening
performance.
Applications are available online at www.blackhillsstockshow.com for
teams that wish to compete in the 2014 Black Hills Stock Show Ranch Rodeo.
The Black Hills Stock Show, produced by the Central States
Fair, Inc., was started in 1959 to promote quality cattle in the region.
